History & Inspiration

ONE CONSTANT TO ALL MY CUSTOMERS IS THAT THEIR JEWELLERY HOLDS A FUNDAMENTAL LINK TO THEIR EMOTIONAL LIFE,

UNLIKE ANY OTHER OBJECT.

Each project that I work on is different and requires a tailor-made design approach. Throughout my work, whether it be designing, making, restyling, or repairing I aim to be respectful of the enduring emotional investment that jewellery holds for my customers, whatever its financial value.

JEWELLERY WAS NOT MY FIRST PASSION,

I was a child who was always making things, dolls clothes, plaster models and tiny painted decorative d boxes made from card. I was lucky enough to grow up in an environment where I could have my own endless list of fun creative projects.

I was destined to go to art college and was introduced to a wider creative world at my local art college in Hereford where I discovered a passion 3D design and sculpture. I expanded this interest and began working on smaller scale three-dimensional forms, so producing miniature sculptures which I felt ultimately lent themselves to becoming pieces of jewellery.

So my interest in jewellery was established and I continued my studies at The Birmingham School of Jewellery and later carried out post-graduate studies at Sir John Cass College in London.

Some thirty years later I find myself still with a passion to make and design jewellery. My style and expertise have developed over the years as my focus of interest grew within the world of fine jewellery.

I LOVE WORKING WITH PRECIOUS MATERIALS AND CHOOSING FROM AN ARRAY OF BEAUTIFUL

GEMSTONES AND METALS.

I AIM TO SHOW-CASE

THEIR

ELEMENTAL

BEAUTY

THROUGH

MY DESIGNS

The varying qualities and characteristics that the materials I use inspire my designs.

Using the best quality materials available for a particular project is important to me, alongside functional and creative design, precise and expert craftsmanship, all of which will result in a beautifully fashioned enduring piece of jewellery.

The changing seasons and their effect on nature, the sky, and the land around me provide a visual feast.

In contrast, my love of cityscapes with their interweaving of classic and modern architecture combined with modern-day imagery made by random human interventions all add to my inspirational mix.

Small scale detail such as the complex beauty that one can find in the tiniest object in nature is amazing.

Light and shade, texture and pattern all have a place in my visual index.

On a larger scale the shape of a building against the sky, the creation of negative space between objects all inspire me. The world around us is so full of inspiration.
